Rottensteiner Winery Tasting
An Evening with Judith Rottensteiner of Rottensteiner Winery 04/25/25 6:00pm-8:00pm In place of April's wine dinner, we are excited to host Judith Rottensteiner, owner of the Rottensteiner Winery, for an exclusive wine tasting event. She will present five of their exceptional wines, each expertly paired with a small plate appetizer crafted by Chef Chris. Pricing: Vintner’s Members: $50++ Non-Vintner’s Members: $65++ Please note: This tasting is not included in the Vintner’s Club complimentary tastings. Information about the Rottensteiner Winery: Located in Northern Italy, the history of the city of Bolzano is closely tied to viticulture, and so is the Rottensteiner family. They are one of the oldest wine growing families in the region, and their winemaking history began many generations ago, dating back to the 1500’s. The region was a part of the Austro-Hungarian empire until 1919, which is why the majority of the region still speaks German. The grape vines grow on the red rock, a volcanic soil known as porphyry, that is typical of the region. The surname Rottensteiner, literally translates to red rock. Today, the winery is still completely a family business. - Rottensteiner "Kitz" Sauvignon Blanc Blend A fresh, young white wine made up of predominantly Sauvignon Blanc, and blended with Pinot Grigio and Pinot Blanc to add backbone and structure. The wine is aged entirely in stainless steel. - Rottensteiner "Carnol" Pinot Blanc The flagship wine from Rottensteiner, this is 100% Pinot Blanc aged entirely in stainless steel. The grapes are grown between 2,000 and 3,000 feet of elevation on volcanic "porphyry" soil. - Rottensteiner Gewurztraminer Dry style of Gewurztraminer from the heart of Alto Adige in the hills of Bolzano, Italy. The grapes are harvested by hand and then fermented and aged in stainless steel. One of the most aromatic grape varietals in the world. - Rottensteiner Pinot Nero Made from 100% Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) grapes grown at high elevations at the base of the Alps/Dolomites. The wine is driven by fresh red fruit, with structure and elegance. - Rottensteiner Lagrein Riserva Produced by using only the highest quality Lagrein grapes from the most important vineyard area in Alto Adige.
